Count the loads you actually separate
Two compartments can work for a simple split, while three can keep an additional load separate. Use the categories you already wash separately, following garment care labels. Extra bags help only if they reflect your routine.
Measure the route as well as the footprint
Check the sorter’s width and depth, plus clearance for lifting out a bag. If you plan to roll it, measure doorways and consider thresholds. Removable bags may suit stairs better than a wheeled frame.
Avoid turning it into a holding area
A large sorter can conceal more laundry than you can reasonably wash. Compare bag capacity with your normal loads and choose bags you can comfortably carry. Check whether liners are washable and let damp items dry before placing them in an enclosed hamper.
